on Croatian, we call that thing 'ciferšlus'. it's just an huge oversized zipper, but we don't know how old it is, where it comes from, and what was its use.
my dad found it in old grandpa's house after he died. zipper was covered with dust and looked like a dead alien, but after a little cleaning and polishing job, it shined in all its glory which should have classic huge zipper of unknown origin :-)

93cm (9ft)
2.0kg (4.4lb)
teeths and mechanism is still functioning
there is big "RK" logo on the front side of handle
watch those huge dimensions
so the huge zipper stands there and asks questions. usually, visitors took a look and say:
"oh yes, this is something undoubtly old. why you keep that piece of garbage, anyway?"
but this is really a zipper; zippers are small and tiny! who would need such a colossal zipper? and to go further; it is remarkably old. so you can widen your question and say: who would need such a colossal zipper decades ago?
well, we had heard many theories:
whatever who saw it, the theories were connected to the 2nd world war, or military in general.
sure, if you have some ideas or clue where it may come from, feel free to use my contact page.
